Which countries are included in the”Golden triangle”?
The Golden triangle is a geographical area located in the mountains at the junction of the borders of three countries in South-East Asia: Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
This place has been known since 1920 as the world’s largest area for growing and selling narcotic raw materials – opium poppy, the source material for the production of heroin. The area of the territory is 950000 km2.
The only “opium Museum” in the world currently operates in Thailand.
Tourists are sometimes misled by the almost identical name (“Golden triangle of India”) of a popular tourist route that includes visits to the most famous museums and other attractions of India, located between the cities of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra.
